Audrey Hepburn has long and in my opinion, will always be a fashion icon. Several celebs have recently stepped onto the red carpet channelling Hepburn (whether that was their intention or not) and I have to say, I'm delighted! The 60's fashions are my favorite! I love the prints, the geometric shapes, the heavy eyeliner and the big sunnies! Also, I'm a Southern gal, so it's always been my philosophy that "the bigger the hair, the closer to God!" If you're trying to decide what to wear to holiday parties, you can't go wrong with a glam 60's look. Whether your party is a formal event or just drinks at a friend's house, there are looks for all occassions that are classically chic! For formal, go for a full skirt in black lace or red taffeta. For a more casual look, consider slim pixie pants with sparkly flats or a short a-line dress or cape with stacked pumps!Regardless, whether your festive parties are super casual or black-tie, don't forget your 60's glam at home!
Our beloved Posh recently stepped out in NYC wearing a very Geometric cape, opaque tights and stacked heels. Notice the short hemline, the slightly teased poof of her ponytail and the large sunglasses... Hello Gorgeous! She is Audrey reincarnated in this look and I love it!
Wynona Ryder wore this gorgeous lace prom dress to the Gotham Independent Film Awards and she looks gorgeous! It reminds me so much of the dresses Givenchy created for Audrey in Funny Face! Wynona is the picture of elegance!
Carey Mulligan has been compared to Audrey Hepburn by many a fashion critic since her amazing performance in An Education. Her gamine 60's look is obvious and she wears it so well. I applaud a gal who knows her look and wears it well without fail! Carey Mulligan for the most part never tries a look that doesn't suit her pixie qualities. She's consistent! She turned up on the red carpet at the BIFA's in London wearing this gorgeous number by Prabal Gurung, again reminding me Givenchy frocks worn by Audrey in the past. The red is stunning and the silhouette is perfect. Peeptoe pumps and an oversized clutch are the icing on the cake. This is a perfect holiday look!
Audrey Tatoo already has the 60's gamine look, but she really shined at a recent film premier in this circle dress with a cinched waste. I love a dress like this. It's so feminine and demure. There's no super short skirt or cleavage-bearing neckline, but it's still so sexy without giving it all away. With classy pumps and an envelope clutch, the appropriately named Audrey looks just perfect!
I don't have any holiday parties lined up for this year, but we do have some dressier events that we might attend. I have a black lace sheath lined up for one of these occasions. I plan to wear it with opaque black tights, black pumps and a pretty cardigan. Of course I'll either rock some red lips or statement eyes! What style are you chosing for your holiday events?
