Pink Julep in the Library: American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld

I was reading American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld and I'm sorry to say, I just couldn't finish it. While I enjoyed reading parts of this book, parts of it were very boring. I feel that this book is just too long and drawn out... it just seems to go on and on and the big events don't seem interesting enough. I also felt that because this book is obviously loosely based on the lives of George W. and Laura Bush, that none of it was new... If you've seen W. the film, you've basically learned most of the major events in this book, at least up to page 300 where I gave up.

If I had a lot of time to keep going back to this book, I probably would, but I have a bunch of books I'd like to get through before the end of the summer and this book was just taking too much time and not really worth it... so I gave up.

I've heard a lot of other people say they gave up on American Wife as well. Did you read it? Did you finish? I'd love to hear what you thought!

xoxo,
Pink Julep!
