Pink Julep at the Cinema: One Day

I recently saw the new film One Day starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturges. The film is based on the novel of the same name by David Nicholls.

I liked this film, though I have to say it took a while to warm up for me. Having not yet read the book, I couldn't figure out where it was going for a while and the chemistry between the two characters was questionable for a bit. However, as the film went along, I found myself getting more and more engrossed in the story of these two people and by the end of it, I was totally sold on this relationship.

The story begins when Emma and Dexter meet on the night of their university graduation, just before they leave and their lives change forever. They then meet again on the same day every year.

My favourite thing about this film was how they managed to make them look gradually older and different throughout. It really helped me to go along with it and the actors were great at acting just that little bit older in every new scene. My other favourite thing was Jim Sturges - he's a hottie and a great actor. He literally carried this film on his back! I look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.

I would recommend this film for any of you that love a good romance, however be warned... it's a bit trying and if you've never read the book and don't know what happens, it's a tiny bit graphic. I would not recommend this film for young children.

Have any of you already seen the film? I would be interested to hear what you thought so leave me a comment!
