Pink Julep's Musical Christmas Countdown: Day 19 - Fairytale of New York by The Pogues Featuring Kirsty MacColl

The first year I lived in New York, I frequented a very fun pub on Queens Boulevard called Maggie May's where I was instantly welcomed by the Irish community of Sunnyside (where I was living) and began having the time of my life! In those days (only a few years ago) Sunnyside was like a small town... everyone knew each other and it was a very friendly place to live! There was always someone to talk to or hang out with which was great for a gal on her own in the big bad city!

It was at a Christmas party in Maggie May's where I first heard Fairytale of New York by The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl. This is quite possibly the most famous Irish Christmas song, if not the most famous Irish song all together and it's one of my personal favorites! When I hear it now, it reminds me of a carefree time in New York and all the fun I've had with my husband since then! Enjoy!
