One Man's Trash is Pink Julep's Treasure!

Yesterday we attended a Humane Society Fundraiser of sorts. The kitty pictured above is our neighbor and a rescue kitten from the Humane Society. He was abandoned and on Friday night, I fed him with a bottle! So cute!!! Our friends who also happen to be our neighbors hosted a Bring and Buy Rummage Sale. Basically you bring what you don't want and so does everyone else and then you buy whatever you do want for $1 per item or whatever you think it's worth and the proceeds go directly to The Humane Society of the Cayman Islands. On top of that, anything that didn't sell will be donated to the thrift shop and used book store at the Humane Society where they can sell it for proceeds as well. All in all it was really fun, a great idea and successfully raised $150!!! Just from a few friends getting together to swap crap! Also, we had great coffee, tea and cakes. I made brownies and blueberry muffins to take and it was a great rainy day get together.

Because it was raining, our friend just set it all up in her living room and offered the bathroom for a dressing room.

There was so much stuff!

It was really fun rummaging, especially since it was all stuff donated by our friends, so we knew it was clean and not gross!

Another photo of Joey who has quite the happy home! He loves his basket!

Mr. Julep came home with Dracula and he bought back his Essential Irish book because he decided he really couldn't live without it.

I picked up a few reads as well! I usually prefer a new book, but this is a great way to recycle and it's for charity! Also, it saves money... us girls on the island all seem to like the same types of books so we're always trading!

I also snagged this adorable camel soft leather envelope clutch. It's much prettier in person than it is in the photo. Belonged to a friend who's moving off island so she got rid of a lot of great stuff!

This black wooden bead necklace is kind of on trend with the safari look these days. It's so basic that I think I'll get a lot of use out of it.

Cute earring and necklace set... to be honest, I'm not sure if I really like it that much and will probably end up donating it back to the Humane Society...

I do like this green and gold long bead necklace!

And this green & black marble necklace is so unique!

A cute bracelet... not sure about this one but it was a dollar, so I won't stress if I don't wear it!

Another statement necklace.

This top is a little snug, but I love it, so hopefully it will motivate the skinny! The bow ties across the back... so cute!

And I love this top! Would be cute with a long sleeved black tee underneath for winter or as is for summer. I'm thinking of wearing it with slacks for work, leggings for weekends and jeans and pumps for casual nights out. It's so cute and versatile! It's also great for "fat days" cause it totally camoflauges a poochy tummy situation! Love it!

xoxo,
Pink Julep!
