The Silver Rain La Prarie Spa at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman

I apologize for not posting much recently. As you can imagine, I've been a little busy with the move, planning our luau, finishing work and trying to see everyone before we leave! It's an exciting time but very busy, so when I received a gift certificate from my firm to the Silver Rain La Prarie Spa at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman as my leaving gift, I jumped at the chance to go wind down!

I had been told to leave open several hours to enjoy the facilities at the spa before and after my facial, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much there was to enjoy. I arrived about an hour early, walking into a glorious recption area that looks like a rock quary with a waterfall and was escorted downstairs to the women's sanctuary where I was given a locker, slippers and a snuggly robe. I changed my clothes and embarked on an exploration. There's a huge whirlpool spa area with lounge chairs, a sauna and a steam room. Lovely plush towels are readily available everywhere and fruit or vegetable infused water on tap. Cold face towels with ice, cucumbers and mint are provided and they were my favorite! I took a minty cold face towel into the steam room and stayed there for about 45 minutes! Heaven!

While I was in the sanctuary, a maid was sent in to assist me with any needs, refresh towels, etc. After coming out of the steam room, I put my robe on and moisturized with the La Prarie products that were provided for my use. Then someone greeted me and brought me upstairs to a lovely relaxation area with couches, beds and giant chaise lounges, lush blankets & pillows, fresh squeezed juices and snacks for me to enjoy. I enjoyed a glass of grapefruit juice and was immediately given a neck warmer, which was fabulous! During my relaxation period, I was brought a menu so that I could select the music for my facial. I found this to be a nice touch, since usually I don't like the music in spas and sometimes I've asked to change it. I was pleased with a wide selection and I chose Nora Jones.

The Silver Rain facial was devine! It's a 90 minute service that includes masks and aroma therapy oils dripped on your face and chest. It was great! I felt like I walked out of the room and left behind 2 1/2 years of stress! I highly recommend this facial for a truly extravagant experience! Also, the Silver Rain treatments are exclusive to the spa at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman and not available anywhere else.

Once the facial was over, I was lead back to a private relaxation area where I snacked on apples and cashews and enjoyed a glass of champagne. Very fancy! I could've stayed all day, but had to pick up my mister, so I headed downstairs to the sanctuary where I took a long shower. Everything you need to get ready is provided: soap, shower caps, shampoo & conditioner, toothbrush & toothpaste, tampons, hair dryer, razors & shaving cream.... everything! Before I left, I coated myself in luxurious moisturizers by La Prarie. It was fab.

Upon checkout, I received excellent service! A prescription for different types of La Prarie products was written out for me and the products were explained. I chose not to purchase any because I'm moving and don't need anything else to pack, however when I mentioned I'd be travelling, I was given a free plastic cosmetics bag.

My opinion is this: no one NEEDS all of this glamourous pampering. I've been quite happy with more moderately priced services and spas in the past. However, this facial, costing 4 times what I would normally pay for a facial, was worth every penny. I must say that while the facial was great, the real draw of the Silver Rain Spa is the facility and the quality of service. The facial I had was USD $310 with an additional 20% service charge added to the bill totalling USD $372, however you could have a manicure for $60 plus tip and take advantage of many of the same perks. If you find yourself in Grand Cayman and have some down time, I would strongly recommend spending some time at the Silver Rain Spa. In my opinion, it is by far the greatest attraction on Grand Cayman!
