Travels

Cayman gave us no love or sunshine before our departure. I had hoped to leave nice and tan, but instead we got Tropical Storm Nicole and flooding... BOO!

This was our driveway right before we left... not gonna miss that mess at all, or having to run out and buy $300 worth of hurricane supplies everytime the wind blows off the west coast of Africa. Hurricanes are scary and obnoxious and I'm not cool enough to deal with them without being a total stress muffin!

So yesterday morning we said goodbye to our home in South Grove Villas on South Sound Drive, across from picturesque Smith's Cove on Grand Cayman and boarded a flight for our new home in London! Tuesday night, all our original neighbors gathered to sing us on our way and it was emotional to say the least. We definitely made friends we'll keep forever in Cayman... that's the best part of having lived there!

We flew the British Airways flight from Cayman to London Heathrow, which stops briefly to pick people up in Nassau, Bahamas. I have to admit, this is a long and painful flight. I was sick for most of it despite the air sickness pill the stewardess gave me. The food was nasty and there wasn't much of it, but otherwise, I was impressed with the service provided by British Airways and would definitely fly with them again!
We were given eye masks, blankets, pillows, socks, toothbrushes & toothpaste and headphones free of charge. There was a tv screen in the seat in front of us with a selection of films, tv shows and music to enjoy. I have had this type of thing before, but I must say, BA offers a pretty current film selection. I watched The Back-up Plan, Sex and the City 2 and part of Letters to Juliet. I also listened to music by Lady Antebellum and Michael Buble.

We're here now in London and all is well so far. We had no problems with immigration and customs. Everyone at Heathrow was polite and helpful. We had no issues getting our 10 bags to our apartment and the apartment is lovely. We took a walk today and explored the Kensington High Street, taking time to enjoy McDonald's, something we didn't have in Cayman and doing a light grocery shop at Waitrose. It's so nice to be in a place where you can buy wine in the grocery store again and the wine here is cheap compared to Cayman prices! Also, I just picked up the 25th Anniversary October issue of Elle UK and this month's issue of Tattler with Olivia Palermo on the cover! It's been an eventful couple of days!
We're heading to the Westfield Mall tomorrow since it will be raining cats and dogs. I'm hoping to score a jacket, coat, pajamas, boots, poncho, and a few other new items! I'm practically naked for winter clothes and it's chilly here already so I have got my work cut out for me!
Thanks so much for all the well wishes guys! I hope you'll enjoy reading about our experiences in London and elsewhere. I'll try to share as much as I can and post as many photos as possible so stay tuned!!!
