Happy Birthday Lilly! AND HUGE LILLY NEWS!

Today is Lilly's birthday! Happy 78th!

ALSO BIG NEWS: Lilly Pulitzer is going to have their first online sale in TWO DAYS. I believe its a gigantic Jubilee sale that starts staggered from 7am-11am. If you're a facebook fan (which you should be A-SAP) you get to see everything they'll have at 7am. I will be up BRIGHT and early before my 8am class that day!

It is 4 Days Only, but I know it will last WAY shorter than that! All of us who are facebook fans will be getting the cream of the crop right at 7am! There are like 3 Jubilee items that I have SEVERE buyer's remorse that I didn't buy, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they might just be there for me! Maybe I'll snag something early and make it "an early Christmas present" for myself (how does that sound, mom?)! Make sure that you join on facebook to get to see everything that is available especially if you're sizes 4-8, which seems to sell out the fastest at my store!

Gift Time!

Back in the winter, I made a gift basket for a friend. Well, I'm heading over to a summer birthday/pool party extravaganza for two friends of mine. One is a gal I work with and another is a girl I ran cross country with since she was a freshman. She kicked my butt! Carley and Mattie are both having this joint birthday, so as I drove home from the beach (that's why I've been so MIA) I thought about what to get them. Then it popped into my head: make gift baskets! Well, I came home, dropped off my stuff, and headed over to Michael's. I figured it would make the best place to get lots of cute stuff AND the most important part of the gift, the basket. When I made my gift basket in December, the holder was the second most expensive item that was part of the gift! Well this was my experience this time.

Step one: tracking down cute (matching) containers for the gifts. I got these aluminum containers with plastic liners.
Step two: pick out themed basket items for each birthday girl (or princess in my case). As you can see, my beat-up VV tote is lurking in the background!

Step three: organize the gift basket items per birthday princess, for your own help. I got paper products, lollipops and ribbons (and birthday crowns that match each basket!!!) for the baskets.
Step four: get clear or translucent cellophane to wrap the gift baskets in. This is one of the most important steps, because without the protective layer to keep everything in, the items in the baskets will probably fall out. This was the brand I used this time, last time I had ADORABLE clear cellophane with white polka dots from the Party Supply Store.
Step five: place the unwrapped gift basket in the cellophane, so your folding it "hamburger style". Instead of doing it "hot dog" style, you want the cellophane to be as wide as possible. It seems silly, I know, but it makes a big difference when you gather all of it up with the seams.
Then you're done! I closed mine with ribbon that matches the basket and added the crowns around the very top of the closure! I think they look fab if I do say so myself!

Not to mention, I did it all for $44.91. That's just over $22 per basket! Try one for your next gift-giving opportunity or swap trade!!

PS. I'm having minor computer troubles with following blogs. I've reported the bugs to apple, but everytime I try to follow a blog, Safari spontaneously shuts down :( As soon as I'm able to follow you guys again, I'll be catching up with my new followers I promise promise promise! Thanks for the new followers!

Birthday Wrap-Up

So I had a wonderful birthday with my family and we celebrated last night! I had a lot of fun being home with them for my big day and I'm glad that my break worked out this way! I got a bunch of fun stuff for the big 1-9 yesterday:

I had picked this out when we were roaming through our local Nordy's, except my Longchamp is the next size up--Medium. I now have this pretty new pristine one to go with my (kind of gross) khaki one!

A Murfee!! This was a surprise that I was extremely excited about! Just about everyone I work with has one of these babies, and so I was thrilled to open up this surprise!

Glee Volume 1: Road to Sectionals
YES I DID GET THIS! I had no idea it was even out on DVD and I am SO EXCITED. My roommate and I made a point of clearing our Wednesday night schedules to watch Glee, and now I've got all 13 episodes plus backstage footage, music videos, and Dance Boot Camp!! Score one for Katie!

I also got a fab sweater from J. Crew that I can't find online along with this amazing black necklace from J. Crew too. I saw it at one J. Crew and decided that $65 was too much to pay, and ended up having MAJOR buyer's remorse. Then as my mom and I were shopping, we ran into it for $30 with an extra 30% off! I couldn't pass it up--not to mention, it was the only one left in the store--that is meant to be if you ask me!

For the rest of the day I'll be packing up all my stuff (which seems to have doubled since I got home...) and saying my goodbyes and then departing promptly tomorrow morning with a friend who lives kinda close to where I live to drive back to school with. I'm partly excited to go back, but I'm partly sad because I always get a little misty when I go back to school (my mom could tell you about it). However, I'm coming back in a few weeks for my sister's school play and then I'll be back a few weeks after that for Spring break. I can't believe I'm even talking about spring break right now!!!

Happy 91st Birthday to Me!

Today I had a birthday party for my 19th birthday! My official DOB is on Friday but I can't wait! Tonight just seemed to work better for people than on my real birthday, and I enjoy celebrating the real day with my little family, it's cozier and fun! We had such a fun day celebrating and chose a great local restaurant that seems to be extremely popular for birthdays. I owe a huge thank you to my parents since this dinner was a birthday present from them. I had such a great time and couldn't be more thankful for a great way to wrap up my Christmas break!!

I really ended up making my outfit decision at the last minute--and by last minute I mean I bought the shoes this morning, yikes! I got the dress yesterday also from Black Market White House (or whichever comes first in that title) for 50% off! Yes!! And the shoes I got are very NOT me, but they were super fun for a party and surprisingly comfy. Here's what I wore:

We all had a fabulous night catching up and eating wonderful Thai food. It was a great dinner before we all go back to school. I head back on Sunday from the North Pole, although I hear its just as cold in SC...oh no! I swear it was 75 degrees the day that I left and I got funny looks going through the airport in my wintery clothes. I'm thinking about hosting some kind of giveaway (maybe a set of my painted letters since they got such great reviews from everyone...?) for some event soon, I've never hosted a giveaway and I think it's just about time for me to do so! Just a thought for now...maybe a Valentine's giveaway? Or just a wintery-slump giveaway? Who knows, more details to come obviously.

Back to my birthday though. You're all probably wondering why my title is happy 91st, right? Well friends, it is not a typo. When the waiter brought out my cake (a fabbbbb 7 layer caramel cake, which coincidentally is very southern) they waitstaff put the number on wrong. The numbers were not only in reverse, but the 1 was also facing the wrong direction! My friend Caroline was snapping photos of that moment because I was almost crying I was laughing so hard, I'll have to post a few once she sends them to me, or post a link to her blog if she posts them. She got a fancy new camera for Christmas and had a great time being our photog!

I'll be sure to post soon with birthday greetings!!
