Hello to all the 10 Rooms lovely readers.

I'm Carol from The Design Pages.

It took me only a split second to decide after being asked by Anne-Marie to be part of the

Crushing on Color series.

Peacock blue has become a favourite for me in both fashion and design.

This is my favourite shade for furniture or walls.

My favourite shade is one that is right in the middle

 of the light, almost turquoise, and the deep royal blue.

This shade can look fresh and hip.

It can also look calm and sophisticated.

It works paired with other bright, bold colours.

It also looks amazing with neutrals.

A little pop can go a long way with this very versatile colour.

If subtlety is not your style,

you could go all out with this wallpaper.

My very favourite of all the combos is the peacock blue and yellow mix.

There is definitely a peacock blue room in my future...

 but for now I'll settle for a bit of this...

Hello 10 Rooms Readers!

I am Sundeep from Designwali and for today's "Crushing on Colour" post you might as well call me Pinky.

 For some strange reason all shades of pink are on my mind lately

 with anything from coral to magenta to salmon pink! 

Now personally I think it is a lot easier to wear pink

 than throw it in a room,

 but in small doses it can really bring that punch to room

 and add some character when required.

Salmon pink was my saree colour pick for my sisters wedding and it made me feel divine!

Crushing On Color: Jennifer from Rambling Renovators

Today's guest post is from the lovely and very talented Jennifer of Rambling Renovators.

When Anne-Marie asked me to participate in her Crushing On Colour series, 

I knew I had to write about my latest crush... coral.

Now this colour may be "hot" right now, 

with a pinky-coral called "Honeysuckle" having been selected Pantone's Color Of The Year for 2011,

 but don't mistake this hue as a flash in a pan.

Coral is a bold colour but is versatile too.

 It can take on many a persona, soft and elegant, vintage, worn, modern, or fresh...

But I like coral best when paired with grey.

 The cool grey makes coral more grown up, less pinky and more orangey. 

A sophisticated blend. Playful but not too sweet.

Coral is on my radar right now, as well!

I like it well-saturated and a little heavy on the pink.

The perfect coral palette has got to be that last living room, 

a juicy coral, pale grey, a warm white and gold -  heavenly :)

Crushing On Color: Sarah from Flourish

It's Crushing on Color time, ladies - yay!


I promised you a fabulous post from a fabulous blogger and here it is - 
Sarah from Flourish Design + Style
has graciously agreed to share her current color inspiration with us....

It's been some time since being asked "what's your favorite color? " 

The first that came to mind was white. 

Creamy white and true white and any shade in between. 

Crisp cottons and wrinkled linens. But maybe that's just because I'm thinking summer. 

What about a creamy white with a pale grey undertone? 

Now I'm thinking about interior walls and woven blankets. 

Top it off with some injections of crisp blue, and there it is! 

My color crush! 

What I'm loving right now...blue.

The awe inducing Smythe blazers bring a fashionable edge to the simplest of outfits-

I think of bright royals, worn chambray and crisp denim. 

My go to shorts this summer are a short, cuffed tailored pair of soft denim that tie with a bow. 

There's nothing that doesn't look great with these shorts.

These images from Style at Home show a lovely blue,
and just how to mix it in to a neutral interior. 

It appears traditional with some spunk, tailored and crisp. 

It evokes a feeling ( for me ) of clean, crisp and fresh.

So thanks Anne-Marie for asking the age old question, 

the answer to which changed almost daily as a child, 

and to which I can answer now as blue.

Blue in all it's glory will always be near and dear to my heart -

it's such a versatile hue - 

ranging from energetic (cobalt)

to stately (navy)

to perfectly restful (pale tints)

and more...

how could anyone resist it in some form or another?

it's filled with gorgeous inspiration daily,

always very tasteful and ultra-chic,

and sometimes you get a glimpse of her gorgeous home

(which I"d love to see more of - hint hint!!)

Crushing On Color: Jules from The Diversion Project

The Crushing on Color series is where we get a little glimpse

today I am super-excitied to bring you Jules,

When Anne-Marie asked me if I'd like to take part in her Crushing On Colour series, 

I kind of thought for a split second 

"is this a trick question?" 

I mean first of all who wouldn't jump up and down with a welcome back Kotter hand in the air

 to be part of this fabulous fun and then second of all I had to stop

 and ask myself, 

"do I actually do colour?!"

But reading further down the sweet email I snorted when I read

 Anne-Marie's words "And, yep, black and white and wood and concrete count as colors :)".

She knows me too well!

So I thought, cool, black white wood and concrete, I can do that kind of colour! 

But then I thought there must be more to my colour radar than that. 

So looking back through the inventory of things that grab my eye I noticed quite a bit of turquoise,

 a very healthy sampling of grey (yep, I concede, on the cusp of black and concrete again),

 but then suddenly - gold. 

My love of shiny things and refined glamour shone through.

And in so many ways, 

from blind-your-eyes-mirage-in-the-desert to 

burnished umbered mellow patinas in a Milanese kitchen.

Whether it be metallic gold or golden tones, I love the way it can transform a room. 

The soft shimmer often transfixes me when I spot it in a room, no matter what form it comes in.  

But of course golden velvet just might have to be my most favourite form of all.

because I always have to mentally fight to separate gold from flourishes and roccoco,
