Found! What's Better Than Wallpaper? This..

Ages ago I saw this pic

I don't know where it's from, nor who is responsible for this stunner - do you?

It went straight into my inspiration files.

 I wondered if the rose was painted on the wall,

or if someone had commissioned a large custom mural.

Then last week, looking for something completely different,

I found it.

Called Yellow Peony (ah, right, no thorns :)

Available as a ready-to-roll mural from Surface View, in the UK.

It's a three panel piece, adhered to the wall like wallpaper.

How fantastic! and there's so many more..

The have loads of other products, including self-adhesive, which can be removed and re-hung in different locations in your home easily.

There's also smaller murals available..

I would LOVE to have a pair of these in my dining room...

Eye Spy a Trend: Fabulous Grass Cloth Walls

I've just had time to flip through the new Lonny (loved this issue, btw).

 I've found the same solution to an age old problem three times in this issue -

  that, my fellow design junkies qualifies as a trend.

Designers are constantly bombarded with new product and inspiration.

This means their homes are constantly evolving, in with the new and out with the old..

I'm like this with color - never really finished our own home

 because there's always a fantastic new color that I need to incorperate :)

One of the easiest ways to change up a room is with art, 

but what about those constant holes in the walls?

The answer, my dears - grasscloth.

Palmer Weiss has covered that walls of her children's playroom in it..

Celerie Kemble has used it in her living room..

(oh, how I love this room, timeless beauty)

and although it's not confirmed, it appears Lulu DeKwiatkowski has put it in her sons bedroom..

and her guestroom..

and her dining room..

Grass cloth, and it's cousins, pick up on the camel trend that's about to hit.

It's a fantastic backdrop to the saturated mid-tones we're seeing now..

It's provides texture and interest without becoming the star attraction in a room,

 like wall paper has a tendency to do..

and it gives you the freedom to change up your walls on a whim -

 what could be better for us design junkies?!

Fantastical Walls: Mushaboom Design

It's supposed to be a grey post, 

but today is the first sunny day in a string of rainy ones,

and so I feel like a little happy - with me?!

I've found the most fantastical wallcoverings....

Two incredible nature inspired collections from Mushaboom Designs.

The first, a tribute to to Taylor Head, a park in Nova Scotia.

The second, "Victoria", was inspired by public gardens in Halifax.

The patterns in both collections are available in custom colors and effects,

but the Victoria patterns are offered in pre-selected color options that are already rich and varied,

with three groups of colorways available - shine, gloss, and patina.

 this one is my fave, my own dining room walls NEED this, truly :)

The artist behind Mushaboom, Barry Roode, shares his creative process,

from inspiration to final design.

Yea or Nay: Bookshelf Wallpaper?

This weeks Yea or Nay is bookshelf wallpaper.

On the plus side, it's a space saver, and adds interest when you don't actually have loads of books to display.

On the flip side, it just keeps bringing me back to those incredibly tacky huge sunset murals...
