Pink Julep Reads: French Women for all Seasons and The French Women Don't Get Fat Cookbook

Source

I decided to read French Women for all Seasons by Mireille Guiliano because I really enjoyed and benefited from her first book, French Women Don't Get Fat. French Women for all Seasons was even better than the first book!

French Women Don't Get Fat began with the story of how a young Mireille went to America as an exchange student and fell in love with everything, particularly the food. She returned to France having gained quite a bit of weight, much to her parents concern. She was sent to a doctor who put her on track and she slowly but surely began to go back to her French ways of looking at food. Those are the little gems she shares with her readers in both of these books!

The French Women philosophy is all about eating for pleasure while staying (or getting) thin. Diets are out. Drastic gym sessions are out. But a life-long change is in! In French Women for all Seasons, she takes these same principles a bit further and really focuses on two things: 1) eating seasonally for optimum pleasure and 2) increasing the amount of daily pleasure in your life, leading to a happier, healthier, thinner you!

It all sounds cheesy, but I challenge you to read these books if you haven't already and see if you don't absorb at least 1 or 2 things that you incorporate into your diet! We changed a lot about how we ate when I read the first one and even more is changing after reading French Women for all Seasons! I have planned a menu to start using when we return from our trip to Dublin this weekend! Here's hoping I can stick to it and keep up with it!

I also picked up the French Women Don't Get Fat cookbook and while it's definitely a recipes book, she has written quite a bit of good advice in it as well! I sat down and read the entire book in an afternoon and I can't wait to start trying some of these recipes!
