Foo Dog Fabulous

It's American Thanksgiving, and before I get into these chic little dogs,
 I'm sending out a big thank you to all of you.

I started this blog because I felt every business should have one,
but it's become a very personal thing.
I didn't expect to meet so many "kindred souls".
So today I'm thankful for all of you, for your comments and support.
And I'm thankful for your blogs, which continue to inspire me and warm my heart :) daily.



Was cruising through the lighthearted boutique Ada and Darcy 

the other day and spotted these Foo Dogs.

Such intense color and quirky appeal.

Love to see those in a room, I thought!

This room is a perfect example of how a neutral-based palette does not have to be boring!

Using neutrals for the furnishings and surfaces allows you to bring in 

whichever color you are currently fancying with accessories.

I'm fancying a pair of those tasty pups.

As for the melting popsicle sculpture, I'll let you know if I find a source for that one :)

Pink Julep Loves: Jill Platner Jewelry

When I saw these fabulous Hitch bracelets on Daily Candy, I just had to have a look at the Jill Platner website! These colorful bracelets are super cute and would look great in my 'arm party.'

I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful assortment of very original jewelry and accessories! I love this Baby Heart Necklace! It's so simple and chic.

I also really love leather bracelets... it's just a thing with me. I think they are fabulous! This Aurora Bracelet is right up my alley! Too bad the price tags are a little ambitious for my bank account, but I can look and dream, right?

A friend of mine is a partner of this amazing jewelry company called PDB (Pure Dead Brilliant) and the pieces are fabulous! I've seen some of them in person and I have to say, these little pretties are to die for!

Gowns, Baubles and Tables - It's a Lovefest!!

So this year BHLDN opened, 

and if you've not yet been entranced by their dreamy gowns,

you've got to experience it.

 We eloped to the Bahamas for our wedding, and we loved every single moment,

but if anything would have made me want a larger affair, this would have been it.

How is anyone supposed to resist the romantic appeal of these...

I mean, REALLY!

And if the frocks and frills aren't enough to tempt you, now they've expanded to include decor items.

um, staying away... staying away... sort of :)

The other day, when BHLDN sent me an email with a peek at their take on table themes,

I had pretty high expectations... and I wasn't disappointed.

Of the six presented, the Naturalist is my favourite,

with butterflies and flora frolicking amongst antique linens and moss, 

bits of glass and mirror lending a dash of sparkle.

It's such a romantic, timeless look.

I wonder which one will be your favourite?

These tables aren't just for weddings,

there are so many ideas here for your next soiree, right?

How about using those vintage, beribboned keys featured in the Naturalist as place cards...

the dove clips from the Oiseau collection would be stunning hung anywhere, all the time, as an installation...

DIY: jewelry as art

Since we're working on the eldest darlings room right now,

and she fancies herself something of a fashionista,

we were desperate for jewelry and accessories storage.

She really wanted to have her necklaces out on display,

and so the search began for a pretty way to style them up...

 All in a row, neat and tidy.

or tucked into frames....

amongst gallery wall of fanciful hooks and baubles...

or hung on almost invisible hooks and nails, 

necklaces cascading grandly down the wall....

Isn't that a dreamy vanity?

Although we both loved the idea of the necklaces being the focus,

Tash wanted them hung on hooks that had a little personality as well.

She wanted something unique, that no one else would have,

(who does she take after?!!)

and so we decided to head to the re-store, 

to pick up an odd assortment on mis-matched hooks and paint them white.

That way they would add interest, but still blend in with her new white walls.

Then we stopped by homesense :) to source something for a client,

and voila -

there it was..

In all it's bad burnished gold beauty!

A metal tree sculpture, the perfect size for her wall,

with umpteen "hooks".

after a coat of white spray paint we had our solution,

 for a whopping total of $20.00!

We've just got to get the window's and floor dressed, and I'll show you the rest -

dhurrie dreams and a thank you

the patterns and colors of dhurries are always a delight

and you all know how much I love a patterned carpet....

we've seen them used as upholstery with great effect - 

that wee loveseat is on my wishlist....

and this one even works as a tablecloth...

but this idea?  THIS idea is genius....

just makes me want to break out the paintbrush!

Shells as Decor: Yea or Nay?

Yesterday was gorgeous here.. and the kids and I decided it was a beach day.

We are fortunate to be living next to a plethora of lakes and a few smashing beaches..

At least one luminous shell or intriguing bit of driftwood always finds it's way into the car..

The girls have insisted on using these to decorate their shared bath,

 so I have been looking for interesting ways to display beach treasures.

We made one of these:

I like the idea of having the girls create some art with them.

Er, this may make 3 am trips to the loo a bit frightful!

These bottle stoppers are unusual (so I like them :)
